Retelling Sacred Stories

The Minnesota Multifaith Network in collaboration with the Fetzer Institute and Hamline University is convening this series of multireligious discussions.

These discussions are centered on a recent volume of religious stories, published by Orbis, Retelling Sacred Stories: Our Journeys to a Shared Sacred Story. Over the past five years, the Fetzer institute brought together teams of eminent scholar/practitioners from nine of the world’s religions (Buddhist, Christian, Confucian, Hindu, Indigenous, Interspiritual, Islamic, Jewish, and Sikh) to tell in creative narratives, for the global community, the story of their community’s understanding and experience of the sacred and how it can support shared flourishing. The volume also includes "shared sacred story" that respects each religion's uniqueness and calls for a new engagement between science and religion.

During each session we will hear from scholar/practitioners sharing their reflections on the stories of their faith. This will be followed by small group discussions and conversation with ourpresenters. The Minnesota Multifaith Network is convinced that these stories offer a wonderful public opportunity for learning about the religious traditions of our

neighbors, building relationships and examining our own relationship with the sacred.
